As an important part of a student-centered research university, the Biology Department provides instruction on research and offers its undergraduates opportunities to participate in research. Our dynamic and award-winning faculty—from around the globe—mentor tomorrow's scientists, while also conducting research that is highly relevant to today's most significant questions in the biological sciences. The 230,000 sq. ft. Life Sciences Complex and its modern facilities—including a confocal microscope and five climate-controlled greenhouses—provide valuable tools for research and discovery, helping our faculty stay on the cusp of leading developments in the field of biology. The Biology undergraduate program is top-rate and flexible. Interested undergraduates also have opportunities for research and field work. Biology faculty advisors provide one-on-one guidance to MS and PhD students as they explore and refine their research interests.
