Abstract

Art is an integral part of my life. The direction I have taken with my work is directly related to the experiences I have lived. My earliest exposure to art materials consisted mainly of drawing with charcoal and painting with acrylics. As my skills developed, I began to experiment with various other media. The introduction of clay and found objects to my artistic practice has further amplified my ability to convert feelings into form. The works I made at Syracuse University are in response to my psychological state as well as external environment. This, among the other facets of my life, are filtered through my interest in Renaissance art and contemporary themes. With these themes in mind I create political works which situate the individual as being outside of the norm. I have concluded this project with examples of my work, brief descriptions included.
