History
The College of Professional Studies was founded as a part-time continuing education program in 1902. In 1918, this program expanded to include evening classes, taking on the name "Evening Session." The Evening Session later became the School of Extension Teaching and Adult Education. In 1946, the school was reorganized and renamed University College. In 1996 and 1997, the school was renamed to Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, and Syracuse University Continuing Education, respectively. Sometime after 1997, the school was renamed University College which it remained until 2021 when the Board of Trustees approved the name change to the College of Professional Studies.
