Submission Criteria

We are seeking research-based work in any discipline, including the humanities, STEM fields, journalism, management, education, architecture, and visual and performing arts. Multimedia submissions, with an introduction and link to audio/video/online content, are welcome. The Crown aims to reach a general audience, so we are particularly looking for work that's accessible to nonspecialists.

Please note that, as a journal, we are unable to publish thesis-length work. Articles should be under approximately 2,000 words (excluding bibliography). If you'd like to submit a longer paper, consider creating an excerpt or summary. You could include a link to the complete publication.

Submissions from technical fields can be excerpts from a poster, thesis, or other research presentation or publication. An excerpt might include an introduction outlining the problem and its importance; a brief overview of methods; and a section on the findings and their significance. Links to posters, publications, or data sets to support your paper are welcome.

  • Submissions are open to Honors students and to student projects funded by SOURCE.
  • All projects must have been completed in the spring 2025 semester or later.
  • Each submission needs to be supported by a faculty recommendation (you provide contact information, and we will request the letter).
  • Honors students can earn civic engagement for submitting to The Crown: one hour for submitting, and up to ten hours if your work is published.
