Abstract

This study explored teacher pupil relationships as perceived by pupils and the relationship to reading achievement and self-concept. It considered how a child's learning and behavior are associated with perceived relationships and the premise that learning is dependent upon interpersonal relationships between teacher and learner. The study hypothesized that learners who perceived the most positive relationships would have better outcomes than those who perceived less positive relationships. The study outcomes supported the premise that facilitation of learning is related to the degree to which the learner perceives a positive teacher-learner relationship.
