Description/Abstract
This paper examines the semantics of the logical constants and and or in the “Aristotelian” theories of English. In their role as coordinating conjunctions, these constants require special treatment to obtain the desired pretheoretic results. A partial solution to this problem is given. It is concluded that for a general account of coordinating conjunctions between nouns, Aristotelian theories require a transformational component.
