Description/Abstract
This study is an analysis of data obtained from surveys completed by the youth who attended the Arts at Assisi Gear Up Summer Academy, the parents of the attendees, and staff of the program. “Arts at Assisi” is an eight week summer program providing low-income, middle school students with opportunities to discover their creativity in a variety of ways. Students on a daily basis engage in photography, creative writing, drama, dance, music, painting, drawing, cooking, sports and teambuilding activities. The data obtained in this report evaluated the success of this program and will be used to improve the program based on community needs. The academy ran from June 25 through Aug. 17, 2007.
