Description/Abstract
Hitoshi Abe is Chair of the UCLA Deparment of Architecture and Urban Design. Since 1992, when he won first prize in the Miyagi Stadium competition, he has maintained an active international design practice, Atelier Hitoshi Abe, based in Sendai, Japan and Los Angeles. Known for architecture that is spatially complex and structurally innovative, Abe's work has been published internationally and received numerous awards. (L.C. Dillenbeck lecture)
