Learn how a small group of research impact librarians filled a vital niche on campus to advance and inform research activities. Demonstrating research impact and highlighting distinctive areas of expertise can elevate an institution’s reputation and attract students and faculty. Greater visibility can lead to impactful collaborations with strong research partners and set up participants for future funding successes. Syracuse University Libraries' Research Impact Team is focused on addressing the need to advance and highlight research initiatives. The librarians support bibliometrics and research activities for a variety of stakeholders across campus units. In this presentation, Syracuse University librarians’ and an Elsevier Research Intelligence Consultant will provide details on how to gather individual, group, and university bibliometric data to support use cases across campus. Librarians will discuss how they use Scopus, Pure (a Research Information Management system), and other sources, to gather relevant data. The specific use cases identified include librarian liaison activities, tenure and promotion packet preparation, RFIs and grant proposals, open access trends, university rankings, college and institute-level research activities, institutional data clean-up, journal identification and metrics, systematic reviews, and benchmarking.
