Article Title

Wouldn't You Want to Be A "Crunchy" Too?

Abstract

"Crunchy" came about after two years of life at Syracuse University, and observing the many "Nineties-hippies" that are all over the campus. The article should not be interpreted so much as an attack on their individual lifestyle, but more of a question that asks how my generation fits into the "big picture" of history. The "Crunchies" that the article speaks of are not bad people at all, and my research into their culture has only affirmed my affection for them. However, I still can not figure out their desire to be hippies in today's world; we have tried this route before and its dreams have yet to come true. My generation needs to come up with a new plan and its own voice. We need to incorporate the idealism of the "Crunchies" with the reality of activism and education. President Clinton said at his inauguration, "Each generation of Americans must define what it means to be an American." Hopefully, my simple article will be a reason that we take a step back, and define for ourselves what it means to be an adult.
