Article Title
To Shift the Focus
Abstract
The topic for this essay was stereotyping. The instructions were, "Write an essay that argues against a specific instance of stereotyping. . ." With this world of ours offering such a wide variety of stereotypes to choose from, it was easy to decide on a particular kind which affects me and which I feel very strongly about. The way that women are looked at in relation to standards of beauty and bodily perfection is a concern of mine. This being the case, it was exciting for me to weave together an essay which consisted of class readings along with my own personal beliefs and experiences. From struggling to wade through emotions to carefully examining thought-provoking essays, and then simply following my mind where it wanted to go, I can only hope that I have perhaps presented an argument which will make people think.
