This paper examines online fandom’s re-insertion of the superhero Hawkeye’s hearing loss following the release of The Avengers. It highlights the importance of transformative works as a place where fans can create space for disability within superhero narratives, while such a space is rarely, if ever, allowed for in popular culture.
