Alvin Huang is an architect, designer, and educator that is focused on exploring the intersection between performance, technology, and craft in contemporary architecture and design. He is passionate about investigating novel and expressive forms that challenge design conventions and are informed by structural, fabrication, and optical criteria. Huang is Assistant Professor at USC School of Architecture. He also leads a small boutique design office called Synthesis Design + Architecture that is challenged with the mission to explore and redefine the relationship between form and performance. The office explores methods of informing design of form through technological means, with a design ethos rooted in balancing both the experimental and the visionary with the practical and the pragmatic to achieve the extraordinary.
